Describes over 50 of the best climbing routes in WA's Cascades & Olympics, southern BC, northern OR & central ID. Each route description includes 1st ascent history, an account of the author's own experience on it, and detailed information on access and climbing routes. Interviews with climbers from the 1950s & 1960s add much to the richness of the book. The climbs chosen vary from scrambles on Cascade peaks to 5.4 and 5.5 ridge climbs.
Also included are numerous quality routes in the 5.7 to 5.9 range, plus 5.10 and 5.11 alpine rock routes that vary from 15 to 30 pitches in length. Snow and ice climbs of easy to moderate difficulty round out the collection. The author has selected only the very best climbs for this book, and has personally done each one. Many have not been in other Classics books before this. The route topos include diagrams for the longer alpine rock climbs, while route and climbing photos augment the text.
