Antarctica is known as Earth's last continent. Named by the ancient Greeks, circumnavigated by James Cook, and plundered by whalers and sealers, Antarctica remains unconquered. It is only 100 years since a base was first established here, but today tourists outnumber those who choose to study or explore its frozen wonderland.
This film explores our fascination with this lonely and desolate place. The Wild South team has collected rare footage and fascinating images from all over the world, telling the stories from the golden age of Antarctic exploration by Amundsen, Scott, Shackleton, Fuchs, Hillary and their modern-day counterparts.
Come with Wild South and share in the adventure, the discoveries, the failures and the triumphs of this, the last and loneliest continent.
