The first edition of this classic book of Himalaya photographs sold for $125 in the 1970s. I was working in Kelty Pack's Mail Order Dept in 1972, and we did sell a copies at $125. I just plugged the 1971 price into the internet and this is what it is today: Adjusted for inflation, $125 in 1971 is equal to $991 in 2025. New York, Abrams, 1971, 1st edition, 2nd printing. This edition uses lighter paper than the first edition, so is not as heavy or thick. A hard to find book of extraordinary photographs of the entire length of the Himalayan Mountain Range taken over the course of four years by renowned Japanese photographer Yoshikazu Shirakawa. Includes The Nepal Himalayas, The Punjab Himalayas, The Sikkim Himalayas and The Hindu Kush Range with 71 full page and double page color photographs, 8 full page black and white photographs and 6 full page maps, truly a remarkable book! The book is a very large hardcover with dustjacket and was originally published in 1971 by Harry M. Abrams Inc., measures 10'' by 13'' 128 pages, fully illustrated. This copy has a gift inscription from 1986 on the FEP, otherwise it is like New. Hardcover, DJ, Fine. Book is quite heavy, Extra postage will be requested for Media Mail.
