Also with 8 watercolor illustrations by James Thiriar and 128 photographs and illustrations in black, plus a glossary and a bibliography. In French. Illustrated card stock cover with flaps, edges of the cover rubbed. Near Fine. Well-documented work with remarkable photos and maps, and an account of the ascent of the Ruwenzori. Specialized scientific study with 17 maps, including 3 large maps of the Stanley expedition. 'This was one of the first western expeditions to visit the Ruwenzori, 26 years after the Duke of Abruzzi's ascents of all the peaks. Coincidentally Shipton and Tilman also visited the range in 1932. Noel Humphries of Mt. Everest fame made seven trips into the mountains around 1930 and Shipton and Tilman climbed a number of new routes in 1932. In the same year, a major Belgan expedition explored the range from the west and made the first ascent of Mt. Stanley from that side.'
