This is a fabulous tour and guidebook to American rock climbing, coast to coast, and mostly in-between. The text is in French (there was no English edition!) but it has so much Beta it may be of use to American climbers planning a road trip. This is a lavish guidebook to 34 rock climbing areas in the USA with 255 routes described.
There have been books like this such as Harlin's three volume Climber's Guide North America, published in the mid 1980s as this book was. We currently have a copy of the West Coast volume, just search Harlin in the box above left. There was another good one, but I cannot find another searching all the titles was have carried since 2004.
This is the same format and design as Rébuffat's book Mont Blanc The 100 Finest Routes. If you look closely at bottom of the the cover, lower left corner: 'Collection Directed By Gaston Rebuffat.' Rebuffat worked on this book and died a year later. It might be the last book he worked on.
This is part of a uniform series that Rébuffat wrote, edited and supervised with the usual superb photography. The original English route names are used and have not been translated to French. This is the 16th book in the series and somewhat uncommon compared to most other volumes in the series.
This book can be considered as an updated verson of Fifty Classic Climbs, but for 34 USA areas and with 255 routes of rock climbing described. Not just fifty! The book is all rock climbing. There are no ice climbs, and no mountaineering. I only wish they did an English language edition. Here is the table of contents:
This Vogler book is a guide book as well as a picture book. Here are the pages wirh The Steck-Salathé on Sentinel Rock, and also Glacier Point Apron.
The above pages are typical beta for the climbs Vogler felt were the best. Sometimes the photos are larger.
This image below is the list of all 255 climbs described in the book, arranged by difficulty rather than geography. I apologize that the type may be too small to read. Let me know and I can enlarge it. I kept it small so it would fit on your computer screen.
