London, 1966, 1st edition. 183 pp, 40 plates. Hardcover with DJ, Fine. Unsigned. There is no writing in the book or other flaws, and the dust jacket has no tears or chips but is price clipped. The Dust Jacket is protected by a removable clear plastic book cover that we call a Brodart, they are the makers of the book covers. The Dust Jacket and the Book are in Fine condition. One of the most famous modern climbs, the notorious Eiger Direct climb with John Harlin, Layton Kor, Dougal Haston and Chris Bonington. Though the Eiger is not a particularly high or beautiful mountain, its forbidding North Face has presented one of the greatest challenges to mountaineers. In the course of the years, it has claimed no less than 64 victims - including John Harlin (who led a British-American team with Dougal Haston, one of this book's authors). This is the story of that climb. Following the death of John Harlin who fell 4000 feet to his death, the remainder of his team under Dougal Haston joined with a German team to finish their climb of the North Face of the Eiger
