Canada, January - February 1983.Softcover magazine. Near Fine. This issue is 128 pages, and the article is fully 40 pages �1/3 of the magazine � with 45 color photos mostly by Pat Morrow. An article in Equinox Magazine profiling the first Canadian ascent of Mount Everest. This long article in Canada's Equinox Magazine, a similar format (but larger size) as National Geographic, had the first description in permanent form after Laurie Skreslet and Pat Morrow achieved the first Canadian Ascents of Everest on October 5 and 7 1982. Other articles featured: Fires of Thunder - Quebec's Project of the Century Roars over the Lands and Lives of the Cree; and Marine Dominoes - Scientists piece together the complex ecological puzzles of the once great kelp beds. This magazine is scarce in the US as it was sold by subscription only in Canada, (as was National Geographic. For the first 110 years of the magazine's existence, starting in 1888, membership in the National Geographic Society was the only way to receive it. Newsstand sales, which began in 1998, ceased in 2023 and is now online only. )
