Both Volumes are in the original green cloth with gold letters, in Very Good to Near Fine condition. Volume Volume One and Two both have bright gold lettering on the spine, All the maps and plates are present, there is no Foxing, and this is altogether as nice a copy as one is likely to find. Light edge wear. A handsome set of a major book seldom offered.
Considered by many to be the most sought after book on Himalayan mountaineering. The Duke made an attempt on K2 in May 1909, accompanied by guides and porters from Courmayeur, Italy. They reached 6250m on the SE or Abruzzi Ridge but were turned back by the difficulty of the route. The expedition explored, mapped and photographed the Baltoro Glacier area.
