Thick and heavy hardcover (9''x9''x2'', 2.5 lbs), handsome hard boards with a striking dust wrapper color image of Patey taking a deep drag on a cigarette somwehere in the Himalaya. As there are hundreds of photos, many in color, the paper used is a fine grain uncoated stock that has the advantage of excellent photo reproduction, without incurring the extra cost of coated paper. This book is quite hefty and may in some cases require extra postage. Tom Patey One Man�s Legacy chronicles the brief but brilliant life of Dr. Tom Patey: bard, musician, and one of Scotland�s foremost climbers and mountaineers. His story is one of pioneering ascents and boundless enthusiasm, and his spontaneity, carefree approach and ability to burn the candle at both ends remain legendary, several decades after his untimely death while rappelling from a Sea Stack on the coast of Northern Scotland. . By drawing on Patey�s essays and verses, published collectively in the celebrated One Man�s Mountains, the narrative is imbued with dry wit and gentle satire, and brought to life by unseen images from renowned photographer John Cleare and the Patey family archive. About the author Mike Dixon was born and grew up in the Colwyn Bay area of North Wales. He moved to Scotland for his higher education and has lived in Inverness since 1987. His writing has appeared in the Scottish Mountaineering Club Journal, Northwords Now, The Press and Journal newspaper and on the website UK Hillwalking. Mountaineering trips have taken him all over the world, but his favourite places are still amongst the mountains, coasts and islands of Scotland, Wales and Ireland.
