Twenty-five years after the publication of the first edition , Jacques Perret has published the second edition of this monumental and indispensable critical bibliography of books about Mountains and Mountaineering.
This set of three books are heavy, about 20 lbs, due to the coated paper stock, the type usually found only on the most expensive art books, and they need extra protective packing materials. Therefore extra postage will be

This is the most complete bibliography of Mountaineering Books ever done. It includes all the classic books in the major European languages. This book includes British, American, French, Swiss, German and Italian language books, which covers the majority of important books on the Alps and Himalaya. It includes all the pre-1900 classic books, especially on the early Alps, so it will never be exceded by any more complete bibliography in the future.
This edition has been corrected and considerably enlarged, not only by recent books published during the last twenty-five years, but also by very many old books, some of which had been omitted from the first edition. In total, more than 8,600 works are described, an increase of nearly 75%, and with nearly 2,500 biographical author notes instead of 950. It is issued in three volumes totaling more than 2,250 pages and weighing nearly ten kilos.
This work is arranged by author, and supplemented by indexes arranged by title, by massifs and by main peaks. This is an essential tool for collectors, booksellers, researchers, and more generally for all mountain lovers. The work consists of 3 volumes, each volume is a hardcover 9 1/2 inches tall, with sewn cloth bindings. Each volume has the title and artwork printed on the cover, and no dust jackets are used. The paper used is printed in offset on a 90 gram semi-coated matte paper. This is quite durable paper, and pages and binding will not deteriorate with age.

This is the ultimate bibliography of mountaineering books. It corrects the major flaw with the Neate bibliography, which only listed books in English. This book includes British, American, French, Swiss, German and Italian language books, which covers the majority of important books on the Alps and Himalaya.

Despite my enthusiasm for the Neate bibliography, which came out in 1978, I was always annoyed that he included very few American editions, while we saw very few UK editions when a book had an American edition.]
Jacques Perret (born in Chambéry in 1954), engineer from the Polytechnic Institute of Grenoble and town planner, is a tourism development consultant; he advised most French municipalities supporting mountain resorts between 1980 and 2020.
He was President of Géfil (national union for leisure - culture - tourism engineering) from 1996 to 1999. Son of André PERRET, who was departmental archivist of Savoie, and grandson of Robert PERRET, who was president of the Société de Géographie and author of the "Panoramas du Mont-Blanc", he is passionate about the mountains and mountaineering.
Federal mountaineering instructor, mountain ski race leader, he was a member of the national commission for alpine education of the CAF and vice-president of the Chambéry section of the CAF. Specialist in old books on the mountain, expert in specialized public sales, he is the author of the
He received the Prix des Pays du Mont-Blanc from the Salon de Passy, the Prix de l’Alpe and the Prix Wiliam Huber from the Geographical Society.
He is vice-president of the Académie du Faucigny, and corresponding member of the Académie de Savoie and the Académie Florimontane.

Il est un urbaniste, est consultant en développement touristique ; il a conseillé la plupart des communes françaises supports de stations de montagne entre 1980 et 2020. Il a été Président du Géfil (syndicat national de l’ingénierie loisirs - culture - tourisme) de 1996 à 1999.
Fils d’André PERRET, qui a été archiviste départemental de la Savoie, et petit fils de Robert PERRET, qui a été président de la Société de Géographie et auteur des « Panoramas du Mont-Blanc », il se passionne pour la montagne et l’alpinisme. Instructeur fédéral d’alpinisme, chef de course de ski de montagne, il a été membre de la commission nationale de l’enseignement alpin du CAF et vice-président de la section de Chambéry du CAF.
Spécialiste des livres anciens sur la montagne, expert en ventes publiques spécialisées, il est l’auteur du « Guide des livres sur la montagne et l’alpinisme », de « Regards sur les Alpes » et du « Mont-Blanc vu par les peintres ». Il a reçu le Prix des Pays du Mont-Blanc du salon de Passy, le prix de l’Alpe et le prix Wiliam Huber de la Société de géographie.
Il est vice-président de l’Académie du Faucigny, et membre correspondant de l’Académie de Savoie et de l’Académie Florimontane.
