First published 1963 under the shorter title "The Last Redwoods" with text by Francois Leydet, photographs by Philip Hyde, and a foreword by Secretary of the Interior Stewart L. Udall. This updated and expanded edition shifts focus to the Redwood Creek area; the substantial modification warranted a modified title as well. New photos are largely by James Rose. The Last Redwoods is a requiem to the lost redwood forests, a salute to those who worked very hard to save this superb natural heritage as well as a celebration of the major conservation achievements culminating in the establishment of the Redwood National Park. Introduction by Edgar and Peggy Wayburn.
