A classic Mitchell map with the grapevine border that is much sought after. It ia a steel plate engraved map with vibrant hand-coloring from Mitchell's New General Atlas, dated 1860. The maps are copyrighted along the bottom, which reads: 'Entered according to Act of Congress in the year 1860 by S. Augustus Mitchell in the Clerks Office of the District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.' Also shown are Hindoostan or India, Tibet, Farther India, Siam, Cambodia, Indochina, Vietnam, Sumatra, Taiwan or Formosa, Burma, Singapore, Malaysia, and other places. A Beautiful Map that will frame up nicely!
Size: The map image measures approximately 11'' by 13 1/2'' on a 12 1/2'' by 15'' page with a margin of a half inch or more all around for framing.
