New York, 1906, 2nd edition. Revised and enlarged edition of Wilcox's Camping in the Canadian Rockies (1896). 309 pp, TEG, many photos and ills. Lacks three maps.
This copy has been bound in 3/4 leather, with bright spine lettering in gold, and gold outlining on the leather corners. The front and rear covers are mostly leather, but about half the boards are covered with a beautiful marbled paper. The marbling is also used on the endpapers. The leather was of a type that has not stood up well to the last 110 years of world-wide mayhem. The edges are worn and the hinges have been repaired. Overall Very Good, perhaps Near Fine as internally the book is like New!
Advice from our personal shopper: Do not let the missing maps deter you. The handsome leather binding is the reason to buy this volume. It is decoration, pure shameless decoration. Most collectors of books on Canadian Mountaineering eventually have several copies of this work. It is not rare.
