Bernard Photographic, October 25, 1959. 8x10 inch original news photograph with editing notes and caption glued to back along with a clipping of the final photo and article in newsprint. Caption reads in part: "Craggy faced conqueror of Everest Sir Edmund Hillary flies from London Airport on his way home to New Zealand after seeing his publishers here about his new book on the Antarctic "No Latitude for Error". Photo is a working proof, so is a bit bowed from the glue used on back and shows some alteration to the image around Sir Ed's head. Near Fine condition overall. We were fortunate to have met with Sir Edmund Hillary many times in the 1990s and 2000s. Being booksellers, we often asked him to autograph books by and about him. But we also brought along some other goodies. Edmund Hillary signed this photo for us about 30 years ago in Los Angeles during a fund raising event for the American Himalayan Foundation, to which we had contributed. The print is signed in blue ink. A note on Postage: If you are ordering just a Hillary photo (or several) to a US address, we will ship it by Priority Mail for $10. If ordering with other items, it is just 95 cents extra. If order just a photo (or several) to a Canadian or Foreign Address, we will charge $25. This is because the US has very high international rates, and to protect the photo we have to add stiffeners that add weight. If you order a photo with other items, we can usually send it at what the website adds for one additional item, usually under $10.
