Below is a complete, accurate and authoritative list of all issues of the Alpine Journal (UK). This list is for reference, for you to see what issues you are missing if you are adding to your collection.

This is not a list of the issues we have for sale, they are listed elsewhere on our website. The Alpine Journal is the first and oldest mountaineering periodical, with issues from 1863 through today. We are grateful to the Alpine Club for providing such an excellent journal, and this list of issues and Editors.

From 1969 to the present day there has been one volume of the UK's Alpine Journal (and one number) per year, and issues are normally referred to by year. Prior to 1988, the published Indexes use volume numbers, not years, and volume numbers and issue numbers become essential in navigating the Journal prior to 1958.

Before 1958 one volume of the Alpine Journal might cover up to three years, in whole or in part, and begin and end mid-year. While one number a year is taxing enough these days for all concerned, our industrious forebears often managed four.
