Australia, 2009, 2nd ptg. 106 pp, 100+ large color photos. Tall hardcover with a pictorial cover image, no dust jacket was issued. One copy is Ex Lib, but has no spine mark and few internal marks, though it does have damage to the cover. The other has some edge wear. Very Good to Near Fine. The cover has a special 3D effect on the climber and the title which is quite well done, and was used only as this is a child's book. As the library marks are not obtrusive, and the only place this book is likely to appear is Australia, and as the book is quite well done, if you have an interest in Lincoln Hall and Mount Everest I suggest you consider acquiring a copy as no ''New'' copies are likely to appear in the USA or even the UK. As this book is tall, it may require extra postage for Priority Mail or International Mail. Until this book came to us this year we had no idea that Lincoln Hall had written a ''children's picture book'' on his Everest escapades. This is much more than a children's book. It has no ''artistic drawings'', it is all text, photos and maps. Even if you have no kids, this book deserves a place in an Everest collection if you are adding some or all the books that are being done these days. The text does not talk down to the reader. I think many of us old folks would enjoy reading this book ourselves. The successful Dunagiri trip by the ANUMC forged the Hall and Macartney-Snape partnership, setting the stage for their Himalayan mountaineering careers including their 1984 Mount Everest Expedition.[4] Hall's first major peak was Dunagiri, with Tim McCartney Snape. Dunagiri, Hall's mountaineering career went from strength to strength as he participated in and led numerous climbing adventures around the world, including many first ascents by Australian climbers. Amongst these were two expeditions to climb Mount Everest in Nepal (including the first Australian ascent in 1984); the first ascent of Mt Minto in the Admiralty Mountains of Antarctica (1998); and ascents of other notable peaks including Annapurna II (7963m) in Nepal, Makalu (8481m) on the China-Nepal border, and Carstensz Pyramid in Irian Jaya, Indonesia. Lincoln Hall narrowly survived after his ascent of Mount Everest in 2006. He ended up climbing Everest twice. This book was the last of eight books that Hall wrote. As it was sold only in Australia, and 13 years ago at that, it will probably always be a hard book to find in America or Europe.
