Sven Hedin, 1865-1952, was a Swedish born explorer and geographer who made four major expeditionary trips to Asia at the close of the 19th century and start of the 20th. Each expedition resulted in large and opulent books that were published in several languages, English and German being the most important and common. His works were the go to guides for all the explorers who followed.
Hedin's final Central Asia Expedition. Extensive exploration of the Himalaya and Southern Tibet in 1906-08. He entered Tibet through Srinigar and Leh to Shigatse, and visited Lake Manosarovar. A classic of Central Asian exploration.
