Flatiron Classics is a celebration of the joys that come from moving over easy rock. The Flatirons above Boulder Colorado, offer the finest array of easy rock climbs anywhere. The Flatirons are especially precious since they are located close to a major population center. Flatiron Classics reports on over 20 miles of routes.
The guide describes over 250 flatiron routes. Eighty-eight percent of them are rated Class 5.6 or easier. The hardest route described in Flatiron Classics is rated Class 5.8. Fifty-two of the routes are designated 'classics'.
In addition to the climbing routes, the guide describes 15 trailheads, 30 trails, 11 off-trail hiking routes, 4 caves and several arches. Gerry also provides Variations and Extra Credits for many of the routes. The City of Boulder has rerouted some of the approach trails since Gerry wrote Flatiron Classics, so some of that information is out of date. However, the route descriptions are still accurate.
