Ascent was initiated as the mountaineering journal of the Sierra Club. It appeared occasionally over the years, from 1967 to 1989. Each issue is a collection of excellent writing about mountaineering, fiction, fact and poetry as well as photography and art related to mountains. Large format paper with full color covers, condition Fine.
This 1971 issue of Ascent has a marvelous picture of Doug Tompkins ice climbing in Scotland. The image was later made into a poster. Taken by Yvon Chouinard.
