Denver, 1982, 1st edition. 260 pp, topos plus 22 full page b/w photos with routes marked. Original yellow hardcover is in Fine condition. This copy appears not to have been used on climbs so it isn't dirty, stained, damaged or scribbled in by previous owners.
Yosemite Climbs was not issued with a dust jacket. It was designed to be used on climbs, so the covers have a waterproof plastic surface, and are flexible to avoid damage. They are sewn with durable nylon thread, through the folded book signatures, so all the pages are firmly attached and may never fall out. This is called Smyth Sewn, and has nothing to do with Frank Smythe.
This is the first edition of Meyer's Yosemite guide, although he did have Royal Robbins publish a green covered ring bound topo Yosemite guide in 1976. That book is rarely found complete or in nice condition. The ring binding allowed climbers to remove just the page they needed for the day's climb. You know what that leads to; lost or damaged and possibly scribbled on pages. This edition was commonly called the Yellow Guide, as it followed the original Steve Roper guide in 1964 that was called the Red Guide.
