London, 1911, 1st edition. 432 pp, 24 b/w photos, 22 diagrams, red cloth bound hardcover. The book appears unused, with no marks, no writing, no soiling, no wear. Spine is not faded. Bright, utterly Fine condition. Plus this copy has its original 109 year old Dust Jacket! What is amazing is that the dust jacket is unchipped, not faded with almost no flaws (It has stain at the bottom of the spine but it doesn't show, as it is on the reverse side.) One of the earliest English language climbing guidebooks for Switzerland. Guidebook with 24 illustrations and 22 outline drawings of the principal peaks and their routes. George and Ashley Abraham George Abraham, 1871 – 1965; Ashley Abraham, 1876 – 1951; sometimes referred to as "The Keswick Brothers", were climbers, mountain guides, authors and photographers who lived in Keswick, Cumberland in the English Lake District. They made a photographic record of the exploits of many of the climbing pioneers, especially Owen Glynne Jones, with whom they formed a close climbing partnership from 1896 until his death in 1899. They wrote histories of British climbing, as well as several early guidebooks. Most of their work was done between 1890 and 1920 and forms a valuable record of the evolution of early rock-climbing in the English Lake District.
