Germany, Gesellschaft Alpiner Bucherfreunde, 1931, 1st edition. 218 pp, 112 b/w illustrations. In German, originally in Latin. Tall hardcover with canted boards and cover has a stain. May have foxed page edgesInterior is fine - no writing or obvious wear. The book's rigid covers are bound in a Vellum-like material, with a spine made of linen. Very Good condition. From Wikipedia: In Simler's work Die Alpen: De Alpibus Commentarius, which was the first work that dealt comprehensively with the Alps, he collected all the information about the mountains from the works of various other authors provided with comments from his own view. Simler also wrote other works on Swiss geography, such as De Republica Helvetiorum (demolition of the Chronicle of John Stumpf, 1547/48) or Vallesiae Descriptio . He also advised Ulrich Campell on the composition of his Raetiae alpestris topographica descriptio (Topographic description of the Alpine Rhaetia/Rhaetian Alpine country, Chur 1573).
