She and Jamling Tenzing were the "stars" of the Everest Imax movie that David Breashears was filming, and was also part of the rescue effort to bring down the survivors of the storm on May 10-11, when eight climbers caught in a blizzard died on Mount Everest while attempting to descend from the summit. Over the entire 1996 climbing season, 12 people died trying to reach the summit, making it the deadliest season on Mount Everest at the time.
