Milan, 2001. 288 pp, color & b/w photos, topos, maps. In Italian. In Neate's Mountaineering In The Andes she says, "The nearest thing to a guidebook to the mountains of Patagonia is contained in Buscaini's book, Patagonia Terra Magica, Pages 175-269. It includes many illustrations, maps and topos.'' Large format paperback, there was no hardcover edition. New condition.
This is the best guidebook and history for Patagonia; there was no English translation. Excellent topos, so useful even if your Italian is no better than Tony Soprano's.
Here is a description we copied from an Italian website and translated on google. I have noticed that Europeans give subtle book descriptions, not the hard facts that we like to use.
''This book is the fruit of cultural as well as mountaineering interest and ranges from naturalistic aspects to the human events of yesterday and today. The authors have poured out their passion and experience and offer us a unique introduction to Patagonia along the thread of culture, images and emotions experienced. Intended for travelers, for mountain enthusiasts and for large spaces but also for dreamers, for those for whom Patagonia represents the very essence of the dream. "Patagonia is the home of the soul and spirit. You can fill it entirely with your own chimeras."
