London, 1952, 1st UK edition. 288 pp, 3 color photos, 25 b/w photos, 8 maps, 1 fold-out. The DJ may have some small chips or closed tears, but no major pieces missing. (The UK edition was a year earlier than the USA, although many people prefer the USA edition, as it is 1/2" taller, and thicker, has a nicer dust jacket, and is the version we all grew up with). Hardcover with dust jacket. Very Good to Near Fine.
Although 15,000,000 copies of Annapurna may have been printed, first editions are fairly scarce; about one out of twenty is a first (the UK edition says 'First printed 1952' on the copyright page, while reprints all say more; as in the USA, most UK copies are not first editions) and even fewer still have their dust jackets. We have a few copies that are very handsome with clean, although not perfect, dust jackets.
The UK edition also has a different title on the title page: ANNAPURNA CONQUEST OF THE FIRST 8000-METRE PEAK [26,493 feet], a different photo on the dust jacket, and a different subtitle on the dust jacket: 'The First 8,000 metre Peak (26,493 feet)'
