NY, American Alpine Club, 1992, 7th edition. 557 pp, maps, b/w photos, route charts. New coated softcover. I believe this was the last guidebook that the AAC published. AAC mountaineering guidebook for the Canadian Rockies: Selkirks: Big Bend, Rogers Pass, Deville, Battle and Badshot areas. Softcover. We bought a case of this book from the AAC in 1995! It is the last complete guide to the Canadian Rockies, not just the ''Select Best'' [read crowded]. Exhaustively researched guide to the Interior Ranges of British Columbia, plus the Southern Selkirks. This new edition includes environmental considerations. Appendices include list of passes, literature references, BC Forest Service regional offices, map sources, Alpine Club of Canada huts and camps, peaks exceeding 3350 meters, conversion tables, and rating systems. (We have the last copies of this book and although they are brand new, the glue in the binding is brittle and pages tend to get loose. Customers have told us that installing a simple spiral binding, perhaps at an Office Depot type store, will solve that problem. Or drill a hole an install a bolt and nut, or install a piece of nylon cord, or re-glue with with modern glue. The Best Glue for Book Repair When we repair books we use a white glue that is made for book repair, and is water soluble and reversible, and works really well. It stays Flexible. It is called Glue No 711, come in bulk containers, and the company is called Talasonline.com in Queens NY. I then buy small squeeze bottles to keep it handy and apply it to books direct from the bottle sometimes. I also get old fashioned wood coffee stirrers for free at Starbucks. Even toothpicks are useful for applying small amounts in tight places. Simply pour what you need onto scrap paper, I pour Talas 711 onto post-it notes, and then swipe some off with my Starbucks sticks, or toothpicks.
