We (Michael Chessler), have been collecting used climbing books and gear for the last fifty years. Most of my own climbing was in the 1960s and 1970s, and some of my personal gear is being sold. I knew that some old gear would become collectible, but of course could not know which. I collected most of this gear at the same time I was buying the old climbing books we sell. When we visited an climber to buy his or her books, we asked if we could buy their old gear. We have waited so long to offer old gear for sale because we did not know he descriptions of gear after we stopped climbing, or the current demand, and values. So we consulted America's leading gear expert, Marty Karabin, who has created a museum of climbing gear in the Phoenix Rock Gym in Phoenix AZ, and a museum of Chouinard Equipment in California at Patagonia Headquarters. To my surprise most old climbing gear has not become expensive as there were so many people climbing in every decade from the 1960s to today. Most climbers eventually stop climbing, so there are lots of Carabiners, Pitons, Hammers and Nuts around, not to mention old ropes, slings, boots, helmets, swami belts, bolts and hangers, drills. We have been selling old ices axes for twenty five years, once we discovered that they make an excellent display in anybody's home, and that we could enhance them with the signatures of Sir Edmund Hillary and many other great climbers. So now in 2018 we are offering as collectibles items that we have collected. The photo is a representation of a typical group, and the selection we send may differ slightly, as we have multiple copies of all the different carabiners. This listing is a group of ten Oval and D Shaped Carabiners. These are all used and have working gates. They are an assortment of the following brands, at least 5 brands from the list below. Postage for ten carabiners will be our basic rate for Priority Mail, $7 USA, and $25 Foreign and Canada. If you would like a runner or sling tell us and we will include one for free.
