Detailed Product Description
San Francisco, Sierra Club, 1951. 172 pp, b/w photos, illustrations and maps. Tall perfect bound softcover. Book is Near Fine condition overall. At the same time that Roper and Steck had broken out the climbing articles from the Sierra Club Bulletin to create Ascent, Dave Brower combined three annual issues of the SC Bulletin and did it in a tall paperback format that make the issue look like one of the Exhibit Format books that were being published at the same time. There are sixty four (!) large format images that look like they were ripped from the club's new photo books. There are even some photos by club's new photo superstar Eliot Porter. The cover is a Porter photo taken in the Galapagos Islands.
