The Italians think of it as 'their' mountain, because of the early attempt by the Duke of the Abruzzi, the photographs by Vittorio Sella, explorations by Desio, and the first ascent by Lacedelli and Compagnoni in 1954. That makes K2 the 8000 meter peak that they have greater involvement with than any other. This extra large format hardcover book, 12' high x 11' wide, is perhaps the most beautiful and comprehensive book on K2 that has ever been done.
