Review
For several reasons this is by far one of the best climbing movies I’ve ever seen. The climbing footage is excellent. But how could you go wrong with Yuji Hirayama and Francois Legrand trying the hardest routes in North America while filmed by veteran climbing photographer and filmmaker, Mike Call. However, it isn’t just the climbing footage that makes this movie stand out. This movie is just that—a movie. It has a story (albeit a loosely organized one) with a beginning and an end and characters that the story moves around. It follows Yuji and Francois through their six-week trip in the United States. Through interviews and climbing footage it documents the pressure, the frustration and the satisfaction involved in being a professional climber. This isn’t the usual one-hour climbing-music video. And the music is better than most of those too.-reviewed by Paul Ko
