Detailed Product Description
2008. 288 pp, 100s of color photos, maps. In German. East of the Himalaya lies the mountains called Nyainqentanglha-East, Kangri Garpo and the Deep Gorge Country with more than 250 unclimbed peaks over 6000 Meters high. Nakamura recounts his 30 expeditions to to the Mountain ranges of East and SE Tibet, West Sichuan, NW Yunnan, West Qinghai and North Myanmar - Kingdon-Ward country - and has produced this wonderful history and guidebook to the many 6-7000m peaks of that area which include Minya Konka and Namcha Barhwa.
 
His superb photos show mountains, glaciers and local people, to an extent that is unique. Many Panorama maps and topographic maps give aid in understanding the geography of that mountainous area, and to give access to to still untouched peaks, or access to holy mountains. New large format Hardcover with a dust jacket.

About the author
Tamotsu Nakamura (born 1934) is not only one of the most prominent mountaineers in Japan, but also the world's most recognized authority with regard to the Tibetan mountains east of the Himalayas. Climbers from all over the world use his knowledge of the mountain region for planning and implementation of first ascents and expeditions.
 
He has written several books and numerous articles in international scientific magazines such as the American Alpine Journal and the UK Alpine Journal. He is editor of the Japanese Alpine News. Tamotsu Nakamura is an honorary member of the American Alpine Club, USA, an honorary member of the Himalayan Club, India, Fellow of the Royal Geographic Society, UK, a member of the Alpine Club, UK, a member of the Japanese Alpine Club, Japan.
 
In 2007 he was recognized by the UIAA, the largest and most important mountaineering association, with a special award for his contributions to the international mountaineering. In 2008, the Royal Geographic Society awared him the Busk Medal for his research into the Himalayan region east of the Himalaya.
