Detailed Product Description

Boston, 1915, 1st edition. 329 pp, 12 ills. This is a narrative of author's first and second journey to Alaska in 1979 and 1880, and part of his third trip in 1890; on the remainder of his last trip, his notes have not been found. Describes his life in Wrangell, his explorations in the coastal glaciers of Southeast Alaska and the British Columbia region of the Strikine River with notes on various native tribes. Contains material edited from newspaper articles Muir had written during his trips to Alaska in 1879, 1880 and 1890. Muir began working on the text in earnest in 1912, but his efforts to save the Hetch-Hetchy valley interrupted his work. Final work on the the manuscript was completed after Muir's death in 1914. Very Good.
