The first part of this book is a thoroughly readable account of the British expeditions written by a man who knew the Himalayas and had been one of the major figures in the organisation of the early Everest expeditions.In the second half of the book Younghusband writes about the Sherpas and Bhutanis of the Himalayan regions, the natural life and their flora and fauna of the Himalayas, the the religious significance of the Himalayas to Hindus and their role as place of pilgrimage.
