From 7Summits.com:

The first Dutch climber to scale all seven summits, 'enfant terrible' Ronald has always been a kind of his own. Strong character has made him quite some enemies and some supporters as well. He's a good photographer, sells stock photograpy and calendars and gives lectures. First Dutch climber to scale the big North Faces of the Alps: Eiger, Matterhorn & Grandes Jorasses.

Soloed Nanga Parbat in 1981; was part of the disastrous first Dutch Everest expedition in 1982 (no casualties, but the worst team dynamics ever), but eventually summitted Evererest in 1992. A few years later he scaled K2 as well. He crossed Antarctica and Greenland.

From his own website:
'In 1985 Ronald Naar obtained a Master's degree in the Foundations of Mathematics at the University of Utrecht, specializing in Intuitive Logic. Since 1982 he has been an independent author-photographer in The Hague.

Ronald Naar produces texts on mountain-climbing, skiing and other 'adventurous' trips and expeditions. He wrote and did the photography for no less than nine books [now 12]. In addition he also made photo reports for numerous illustrated magazines, such as KLM's in-flight magazine Holland Herald. Via Benelux Press photostock agency his photographs are sold all over the world.

In addition to mountaineering Ronald Naar has also specialized in other 'adventurous' disciplines. Thus he took part in rafting expeditions in Central and South America and travelled along the west coast of Greenland with dog-sleds. In New Guinea he trekked through the tropical rain forest and on Greenland he crossed the ice cap, skiing and parasailing.

He also organizes expeditions, both to remote territories such as the 'forbidden' Assam Himalayas in northeast India, and to peaks that are difficult to climb such as K2 in the far north of Pakistan. At the moment Ronald Naar is preparing the TNT Post Groep Trans-Antarctica Expedition, which is to take place in the winter of 1998-1999.

Some nine years now, in addition to his work as a photojournalist, Naar's presentations on 'expedition management' have been one of the main activities of his company Adventure Communication. He is regularly invited as a speaker by companies at home and abroad to tell them about his projects at 'unique and solitary levels'. Subjects include the importance of open communication, the changes innovation can give, team building and leadership. Another activity is his giving guest lectures at Nijenrode University and The Rotterdam Erasmus University.

Because of his merits for Dutch mountaineering Ronald Naar was awarded a royal distinction; he is a Companion in the Order of the Dutch Lion.'

Detailed Product Description
2007, 1st edition. 88 pp, many color photos. In English. Ronald Naar is the Netherland's greatest mountaineer, with more Himalayan and world wide ascents than any of his countrymen. He was the first Dutchman to climb Mount Everest, in 1992, and later K2 where he led a team in 1995. He also was the 14th person to complete the seven summits (7th on the Carstenz List), and has crossed Greenland and Antarctica on skis. He has written 12 books on his adventures, but all have been in Dutch until this, his first book in English.

As many great climbers such as Ed Viesturs, Conrad Anker, Reinhold Messner and Chris Bonington, Naar is in great demand as a business speaker, as it is easy to take inspiration from people of great accomplishment. This book is partly oriented towards that market, but fortunately Naar recognized that the primary market for this title outside Europe would be as a mountaineering book, so it tells the stories of his many great climbs and ski trips, complete with fantastic photos. Large format hardcover with DJ.

Dutch climber Ronald Naar died yesterday during an attempt on Cho Oyu.

In 1981 he ascended Nanga Parbat and in 1983 he climbed the Forepeak of Broad Peak. Then in 1992 he ascended Everest and in 1995 also K2!
