Hike to summits, a ghost town, an abandoned mine, through aspens, in whiteouts, in circles, concerned with trail grub, bears, drinks, needs, and shovels. Rock climb a traverse, lead cruxes, fall, belay, approach, rappel, top rope, and find an old pin. Mountain play. If there's something better, Stuart Kinkade doesn't know about it. Alpine High poems are personal experiences dating from the early 1960s to the millennium.

About the Author
Stuart Kinkade has played in the Colorado mountains since the early 1960s. Verses in Alpine High, his new collection, rhyme favorite recollections of skiing, hiking and rock climbing, often with friends who magnified the fun. Aspen Bummin', his first collection, subtitled Aspen Ski Bum Stories From The Sixties, recalls mountain attitudes and characters of the time. Kinkade still skis as often as his knees will allow, and dreams of escaping to the mountains from his Denver home, always looking for a story to tell.
