Here we have a most refreshing change in mountaineering books. The author traces his love for the hills from youth to manhood. Many interesting climbs are described; all take place in Scotland, and form a comprehensive picture of the different problems presented in varying districts. The spectre of fear is sometimes present, and the author has not baulked at describing hidden emotions which many of us keep hidden.
The illustrations convey something of that amazing variety which is the legacy of all who climb or would climb on Scottish hills.
