This   important   travel-book describes the adventurous crossing on ski of the little-known Coast Range of British Columbia, which has only recently been found to contain a peak (Mount Wadding-ton, or " Mystery Mountain ") over 13,000 feet high.

Sir Norman Watson's party approached with pony transport through the densely wooded river valleys east of the range, eventually? carrying the loads on foot up to their base camp above the snow line, at the foot of the Scimitar Glacier. At the top of this Glacier, lies Fury Gap, a 2,000-foot col at the foot of Mount Waddington." A forward camp was established;, here, and the assault party of three  (including  Sir  Norman Watson) chose their moment,'; climbed the col and made their ' successful, though unexpectedly difficult, dash down to the Pacific on ski ; while the rest of the party, with the transport (in charge of Mr. King), laboriously retraced their first route.

Apart from its interest as a tale of adventure, this entertaining" narrative is the first to deal with. ski-mountaineering as a weapon of . exploration ; and it shows the-' possibilities of the Coast Range, if it can be opened up, as a pleasure-ground second to' none in the world.
