This guide and its companion volume, describe the climbing in the Cairngorms, which has been split into two area, northern (Vol.1) and southern (Vol.2). This guide covers Cairn Gorm, Ben Macdui and Braeriach. The northern corries of Cairn Gorm are well known to many, providing easy access from the ski road, while the Loch Avon Basin has such jewels as Carn Etchachan, the massive Shelter Stone Crag, Hell's Lum Crag and others. The Garbh Choire Mor of Braeriach, on the other hand, demands that infamous Cairngorm entity, the long walk-in! Most of the climbing described in this volume is best approached from Strathspey.
