Grenoble, 1992, 1st edition. 127 pp, many color photos. In French and English. Chamoux was France's best Himalayan climber, who completed 13 of the 14 8000 meter peaks. Here he describes his Everest climb in 1992, where he did scientific survey work to determine Everest's true altitude, which they later announced as 8846 meters, 2 meters less than previously. Washburn's measurements later raised Everest 2 meters to 8850, which is now the accepted altitude. This handsome 10' high book is written in both French and English, although the book was never distributed in the UK or USA. DJ, Fine.
