Half of the routes are one-pitch sport-climbs in the basalt coulees not far from popular Frenchman Coulee. The remainder are traditional and sport-climbs on the granite walls above spectacular Banks Lake, including bolted routes of up to five pitches. Since the entire area lies in the rainshadow of the Cascades, 2-4 hours east of Seattle, it enjoys the same sunny weather which has made Frenchman Coulee the most heavily traveled climbing area in Washington.
