'Travels in Peru with the Scottish Andean Expedition.' The aim of the expedition was to map some unexplored country towards the Eastern border and, while surveying, to climb as many virgin peaks as possible. There were still a few really fine unclimbed peaks in Peru: two of these fell to the expedition, together with four lesser ones; and the party made valiant attempts to scale three further major peaks, including the unscaled east face of Yerupaja, Peru's second highest mountain. In addition the picture the book paints is of the country, the native inhabitants, and their customs and behaviour. DJ, Near Fine.
