If you are new to the area or you seek instruction then refer to the CLIMBING ORGANIZATIONS section. This book is not for use by an uninitiated climber.
Short routes; 582 of them. Generally done with a toprope or as boulder problems. Leading is customary at Crow Hill. A majority of climbs are friction or face; the latter are often vertical or overhanging. Here and there one finds a roof or crack.
Some places feature man made structures. Most outcrops are made of granite. Hammond Pond, Route 9 Boulder, and Mount Madison consist of puddingstone. Crow Hill is gritstone. Chalk is in common use, tape rarely needed. Beware broken glass. Bicycle or the MBTA are often feasible transport.
