A factual introduction to the undertakings of the 1966 - 1968 Scientific Expedition to the region on the China Nepal border. Well presented with the classic Communist Chinese rhetoric mercifully confined to the introduction. The Chinese expedition covered the Northern side of Everest, a most remote region, basically on the Chinese side, bordering Nepal. It is truly a research study, it addresses the geology, botany, fossils, natural history, agriculture of the Tibetan plateau of the Himalayas. It appears to be not only a scientific study, but an attempt by China to document and reinforce their claim to and incorporate the formerly independent Tibet.
