History of the 10th Mt Division in WWII. Archival footage from Camp Hale and the Italian campaign. Through personal accounts of veterans and rare archival film footage, this documentary chronicles the amazing feats of the elite 10th Mountain Division, who navigated dangerous cliffs in the Italian mountains to surprise and ultimately defeat the entrenched German strongholds at Riva Ridge and Mt. Belvedere.

The 10th Mountain Division was no ordinary combat outfit. It’s rank and file consisted of an elite group of expert mountain climbers trained by the U.S. Army to combat the Nazi’s entrenched in the mountains of Italy during WWII.

Through rare and unusual film footage, the combined accounts of the Americans, Italians and Germans are woven together to bring you a first hand account of what it was like on the front lines.

The first objective was to seize, occupy and defend German strongholds Riva ridge and Mount Belevedere. To achieve this monumental task the 10th had to climb, single file, up 1,500 foot jagged cliffs, under darkness and in relative silence to take the enemy by surprise. With victory in hand, news of the relentless and swift moving division quickly spread into German lines earning them the reputations of one of the most feared fighting units.

In the end, these revered Ridge Runners silenced resistance on Italy’s northern shores, battered the Germans out of their last mountain stronghold, and cleared the Adige Line.
