Detailed Product Description
New York, 1926, 1st USA printing. 319 pp, 16 ill. Younghusband was an important organizer of the first three Everest expeditions, in 1921, 1922 and 1924, and this is a popular summary of them. One of the first books to summarize the achievements of George Mallory, and helped burnish his legend. Hardcover, VG-Fine condition. Uncludes a Rare Dust Jacket. The DJ has some chips on the edges and tape marks, but is almost completelty intact.
 
A description of the three 1920s Everest expeditions by Francis Younghusband. Younghusband was elected President of the Royal Geographic Society in 1919, and two years later became Chairman of the Mount Everest Committee which was set up in 1921 to co-ordinate the reconnaissance of Mount Everest. He actively encouraged climbers, including George Mallory, to attempt the ascent of Mount Everest, and they followed the same initial route as the earlier Tibet Mission.
