London, 1953, 1st UK edition. 300 pp, 48 plates. The official account of the first ascent of Mount Everest. Chapter on the on final assault written by Edmund Hillary. If you want to collect just one book signed by Sir Edmund Hillary, this is the one to have. DJ, Fine condition.

SIGNED by Ed Hillary and Tom Stobart, with no inscription other than their names.

Tom Stobart was the official moving film photographer on the first ascent of Mount Everest, and he took the Oscar winning film "The Ascent of Everest" that helped cement the importance of this climb in the minds of people world-wide.

We personally obtained the Hillary signature in person in one of our several meetings with Edmund Hillary over the past twenty-five years. The Stobart signature is on the half title page, and is authentic, as we have personally seen his signature in other books and can authenticate it.

Stobart was not officially a member of the climbing team, but his film did almost as much as this book to make the expedition known to people in all continents. His signature is scarcer than most team members, as he was a bit of a vagabond, and did not appear at most reunions of the team, and even though he wrote a book about the climb, I Take Pictures For Adventure, he rarely signed books.
