Shipping Infomation: Rates, Time

We try to minimize postage charges. The amount you see on your check out order form is approximate, but NOT necessarily the amount you will be charged. We often reduce the total, usually because the books are lighter in weight than normal. Sometimes we increase it if the books are heavier than normal, or if they cannot go together in one package, such as posters and books. Details below.

We only use the US Post Office. We never use UPS or FedEx. Please give us your postal address.

SHIPPING RATES USA

MEDIA MAIL is the usual method of shipment for books and DVD's. Rates are $4 for the first item and .50 each additional item to the USA. Delivery time is 1-2 weeks.

PRIORITY MAIL is faster. Rates are $6 for the first item and $2 each additional item, but as some books may be very heavy or very light we may have to increase or decrease that. Delivery is 2-5 days.

POSTERS are a flat $5 for the USA and $10 international, no matter how many you buy. This is in addition to the amount for books, as posters and books or DVDs cannot go in the same package. This does not show on the checkout page as it is not possible to program our website for such subtleties.

EXPRESS MAIL USA

We can ship by US Post Office Express mail, with overnight delivery (2 days to some locations), but please phone in your order to 800 654-8502 or 303 670-0093 as early in the day as possible, before 2 PM Rocky Mountain Time for same day shipment. We use the Post Office only, we do not use FedEx or UPS, even to bill to your account. A normal book or two by Express Mail is about $25. Heavy books of course may be more.

SHIPPING RATES FOR POSTERS, RARE MAPS, ICE AXES

Posters, rare maps, and some other items will be shipped in a separate parcel from the books you order, and not all the rates can be programmed in to our checkout form. Postage is listed in each item's description if it does not fit our standard formula. Ice Axes are $15 Priority Mail to USA addresses, and $35 Airmail to foreign addresses, and we can usually put posters, books and DVDs in the same Ice Axe box for a small additional postage fee. We now use a bomb proof poster tube that weighs over one pound itself!

SHIPPING RATES TO CANADA AND FOREIGN

INTERNATIONAL AIRMAIL is $14 first book, but sometimes it is less and sometimes more as a book can weigh 8 ounces or 8 pounds. Additional books are programmed to be about $10 each, but we can sometimes charge less than that. Delivery takes about one week everywhere in the world. Canada is only $10 First Item, $5 Each Additional. Most orders for 4-8 normal size books get charged $45, only $25 to Canada or Mexico. Mail to Canada is slow, but usually dependable.

The USA no longer offers International Surface Mail.
